Employment Specialist
South Tyneside (Remote working)
£29,830 (rising annually to (£32,483)
This is a six month contract - However, whilst not guaranteed, it is highly likely that the project will continue to be funded.
Our client has been supporting adults with neurological diversity for over twenty-five years and provides a host of services from education, to work experience and ultimately helping their service users into employment. Their culture is incredible from the top down and they truly are a wonderful employer.
Having recently been awarded significant funding, they are now able to support more people than ever before, and as such require three Employment Specialists to work with the service users and North East business to find opportunities for work experience, job seeking skills and employment.
What will you be doing?
Ultimately the objective is to support as many neuro-diverse people as possible into work by providing support with CV writing, by engaging potential employers, by helping complete job applications and by helping to ensure that there is fit that meets the needs of both the candidate and the employer.
You’ll recruit those that need help to the programme by engaging community groups, and by raising awareness of the incredible support available with organisations such as Access to Work.
You’ll also proactively engage local employers and help them to understand the varying degree of needs and support required, and the positive contribution that the people you are supporting can bring to their organisation.

What are we looking for in you?
This role would suit somebody with experience working with candidates and employers in an environment where Government or Local Authority and funding is involved, and objectives and outcomes need to be delivered, whilst protecting the interests, safety and needs of all parties involved. An Employment Officer working for an Apprenticeship provider for example, or someone with experience doing a similar role. We would like to present candidates who:
- Have incredible compassion, enthusiasm, ethics and values, along with experience in a similar role.
- Have experience working with individuals with Autism, learning difficulties or mental health conditions.
- Can confidently interact with stakeholders, local authorities, careers, employers and others, with outstanding communication and professionalism.
- Are organised, disciplined and able to prioritise the tasks and functions you’ll undertake to deliver the work experience and job outcome levels required.
- Can demonstrate awareness of and a commitment to anti-discrimination.
- Will roll up their sleeves, take ownership and proactively make things happen!
- Have a full and clean UK Driver's Licence
